If you don’t live in Barcelona, you probably don’t know about Sexy Beer, as in, Sexy Beer, the band. If you’ve been to Barcelona and spent some time drinking in the streets, you may know about “sexy beer”, as in the words the people who sell beer in the streets use to sell you beer (along with “cerveza beer”, “sexy beer, my dear”, and “esta muy fría”). It’s quite Barcelona, and us here tend to love it. In naming the “skiffle” band formed with Ben Paddick (guitar), Anna Morley (vibraphone, violin, melodica, harmonica), and myself (uke, saw, voice), we turned to the purveyors of convenience who happily provide beer to the thirsty masses that inhabit the hot streets at all hours of the night.
Sexy Beer, an improvisational band with a bit of a gypsy jazz folk feel now have a myspace here: www.myspace.com/sexybeermydear
And some videos from a past performance:
Drink up and enjoy!
This Sunday I will be playing at La Floresta for Butifarrada Artistica, a sausage festival. Contrary to the way it sounds I do believe ladies will be allowed. It is going to be a beautiful day here for an outdoor festival and this fest is packed with fun things!

Next week, Saturday May 30 I will be playing in BCN Week’s Follón Cultural at La Cova. Save the date!

This Saturday, May 2, Moomaw will be sharing the stage of Eléctric Bar with The Not Knowing. We will be collaborating on some special songs and each playing our own tunes as well. Once again showing Grácia how we do.

In other news, I’ve posted a new (rough mixed) version of Pirate of this Bottled Ship on the Moomaw Myspace. It’s from the most recent recording sessions done at Virgil Street Records in San Francisco before I left and it’s one of many recordings which may appear on this year’s forthcoming formal release. It features Brad Robertson on Rhodes, Dale Means on tablas, Yuan Zhou on cello, Raul Sanchez on backing vocals and accordian, Dusty DiMercurio on backing vocals, David Ricardo on trumpet and Nathan Moomaw on that other stuff.
Below is a video of Sonia (The Not Knowing) and I recording a scratch take of the Moomaw song “Teal Suede” together:

Forget Tuesdays, forget selling records, forget the music industry, forget traditions (to be dropped for now and heralded later!), forget plastic and paper and plastic. Have some music.
Paisley Kisses is a stripped-down, smoky jaunt, running headlong through the ether with a bad habit of love in your back pocket, snickering tremors all the way. In case you weren’t one of the (lucky?) few to have procured a limited hand pressing of the EP I have now “released” it digitally for free: Moomaw ~ Paisley Kisses
You can go there and listen to it, see the “far out high school study hall dreamer” artwork and click around to download a zip of the album and artwork. It is yours for free, but I believe it has a value.
Today is a beautiful day (in San Francisco, at least). The sun is shining, no fog in sight, people smiling AND my album, Moomaw - “26″, is finally OFFICIALLY RELEASED! Yes, that means you can now purchase “26″ in all of its glory.
One song for every month that I was 26 all written and recorded by the end of their respective month, accompanied by journal entry lyrics and artwork. 12 songs, 12 months, 12 pieces of original artwork, 12 journal entries of lyrics, all tied neatly into a nice little package with a CD and 28 pages of full-color bookletage.
I’m still waiting for a few of the distributors to catchup with their cataloging (InSound, mostly), but for now, here’s how you can get your hands on this wonderful relic of my time:
Buy the CD from CDBaby
Or, if you’d rather just own a digital copy, you can purchase it from the iTunes Music Store (search for “Moomaw 26″).
It will make me so happy if you get one of these and listen to it.
CD Release?: Please plan on coming to my CD Release Show on Wed June 4 @ Penny Arcade (3 year anniversary) @ The Makeout Room, San Francisco. I will be sharing the stage with Alina Harding, Bart Davenport and The Mumlers! More info on that to come.
Also, be sure to checkout IndieSolo.com this Friday May 16. Moomaw is going to be the featured artist of that day.
And as always, the May Outta Sight is going to be another wonderful show. This time we have The Aerosols, Joseph Childress and The Clouds. More info on that soon, as well.
Thanks for your support!
